We live in a changing digital world where educators and students are faced with the challenge of integrating digital literacy and their language proficiency. Traditional learning resources do not illustrate language in authentic contexts, therefore, 21st century teachers should incorporate digital products such as blog articles, social media posts and infographics to create more engaging and relevant classes for today’s learners. However, most EFL teachers do not use these materials to teach digital literacy. Students are not asked to critically analyze the images they see and the words they read. In addition, EFL students are rarely encouraged to create their own digital products. These are missed opportunities to allow learners to improve their language abilities and to develop digital literacy skills. In this session, you will learn basic guidelines to effectively incorporate digital literacy in your class.
