The new MEP curriculum, as well as the curriculum of many private institutions value cultivating global competence. Our students need “open minds that seek to understand cultural norms and expectations of others, and leverage this knowledge to interact, communicate and work effectively in diverse environments" (Hunter and Godbey) which interfaces with skills needed for a meaningful life. This plenary will explore complexities and interconnectedness of skills needed for a meaningful life and for global competence and offer ways of cultivating them.
